Black History in the Making

Koan Arts worked with churches across Croydon North Deanery to make a video that documented the rich and varied events that took place across 12 parishes for Black History Month 2020. Made during the Covid-19 lockdowns, interviews were carried out out via video conferencing and footage taken from mobile phone recordings and social media provided by participants. The intention was to capture as many as as possible of the events taking place across the deanery. The commissioners of the video also hoped that it would be of help to church groups wishing to plan Black History Month events in their own deaneries by documenting the thoughts and planning process of the organisers.
