Our Services
A koan is a problem which appears not to have a solution, but by ‘altering our perception’ can be resolved.
Many in society have a problem communicating how they feel, showing others what they can achieve or getting the chance to learn new creative skills.
Through Making, Digital Arts, Film and Animation, KOAN provides ways for people to express their ideas and opinions.
We have developed programmes for:
Schools (Primary, High, SEN and Pupil Referral Units) and Colleges
Cultural and Heritage Organisations
Adult Support Groups
People with Additional or Special Educational Needs
Young Offenders
Mental Health Organisations
Healthy Living
Community
Koan Arts shares arts, film, animation, radio, and digital skills as means for participants to express their ideas, opinions, fears, hopes and aspirations.
We also run residential arts projects for young people with learning and physical disabilities.
Education
As well as an enjoyable experience, our workshops provide learning outcomes appropriate for all ages and abilities:
· New creative skills
· Working in teams
· Communication - speaking, listening and thinking skills
· Learning the importance of planning
· Increased confidence in own abilities
· Improved digital literacy
· Understanding career routes in the arts
Cultural and Heritage
We partner with cultural organisations to document and publicise their activities and increase community engagement.
