Koan Arts offers arts education services in and out of school settings, ranging from one-to-one tuition to group projects. It provides both tuition leading to formal qualifications, such as GCSE Art, and classes that foster mental wellbeing and soft skills in communication, confidence, resilience and co-operation . As well as an enjoyable experience, our workshops provide learning outcomes appropriate for all ages and abilities:

·      New creative skills

·      Working in teams

·      Communication - speaking, listening and thinking skills

·      Learning the importance of planning

·      Increased confidence in own abilities

·      Improved digital literacy

·      Understanding career routes in the arts

All participants, irrespective of ability or age, are actively encouraged to contribute.  The combination of visual and expressive arts, making, digital skills and playful exploration, along with a variety of approaches (such as discussion, developing stories, storyboarding, creating characters and sets for animation, interviews and role-play) ensures everyone is engaged.

…high-quality arts education “should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own work…”. (National Curriculum Guidelines).
